Robert Lohene

Robert Lohene was born in the Balkans in 1949 to a mother whose lineage included a prime minister of the state, (Nikola Uzunovic, April 1926 to April 1927 and January 1934 to December 1934), and to a father from a family of merchants.  Although his parents loved each other very much, this diversity of family backgrounds from very early days created tension between the father’s family, mostly his mother, and Robert’s mother.  Despite his mother’s best efforts, she was never accepted as equal and the resulting difficulties culminated very quickly in Robert and his mother being turned out of the house during Robert’s father business trip out of town.

At three months old, Robert found himself sleeping on his mother’s office desk until some suitable accommodation could be found.  This event and the subsequent unrelenting indifference if not outright oppression by his grandmother and her other children, set a tone for the rest of Robert’s life and unknowingly at first, he continued searching for answers to his and his mother’s plight.  Robert’s early experiences were the seed that grew into a passion for answers.

The search to find one’s place and the meaning of existence, to belong, to have a happy family life and to understand interpersonal relationships, trust and love became the focus of discovery of Robert’s inner life.  His book unveils at least some of the discoveries observed on this path to self awareness.
